Proposed Low Power Factor (LPF) change - A price signal for energy efficient consumption

Eskom representatives recently made a presentation to the AMEU Tariff Committee on its plans to introduce a low power factor (LPF) charge intended to strengthen the price signal for the efficient use of energy through an increase in the customers’ power factor (PF) levels.

As part of the development of the proposed charge, Eskom has invited comment from members of the AMEU which should be submitted via e-mail to terry.njuguna@eskom.co.za by Friday 20 August 2010. Copies of the presentation as well as the paper dated July 2009 are available here for interested readers.
