AMEU | Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities

Branches and Special Interest Groups

Branches of the association are active in seven key regions in Southern Africa. Each branch is headed up by a chairman, branch administrator and an affiliates representative. Branches meet on a regular basis to review electricity distribution issues. Provision is made for commercial participation by the affiliates including time to give presentations, display commercial products, and participate in informal networking.

The nearly two hundred affiliated companies have an elected leadership of their own headed up by a chairman and organising committee ensuring meaningful access for affiliates to utility officials and councillors.

Women in Electricity was an initiative of past president Sicelo Xulu. This branch of the organisation has its own leadership structure and its objectives is to promote access for women to all levels of leadership and employment in the electricity industry.
